Introduction
When it comes to creating stunning visuals for your brand, high quality studio product photography is an essential ingredient. However, understanding studio photography rates can often feel like navigating a maze. In this blog post, we'll break down the key factors that influence studio photography rates and provide you with a comprehensive guide on what to expect when booking a studio photographer. Below are some key factors that affect the price of product photography.
What type of Product Photography are you after?
The first thing to establish is what type of product imagery you need to create. Packshots are very simple images shot against a white background. Product lifestyle photography would show the product in its natural environment, with a model, or both. Creative product photography might involve a concept relating to the styling, lighting, props, etc, which would also tie in to photomanipulations, which involve editing the image in a creative, conceptual way. Prices for product photography vary depending which of these options is best for your shoot.
Photographer's Experience and Skill
The photographer's experience and skill level are perhaps the most significant factors influencing studio photography rates. Highly experienced photographers with a strong portfolio and a track record of producing exceptional results will typically charge more for their services. They bring not only technical expertise but also a creative vision that can elevate your photos.
Experienced photographers may offer higher rates, but they will deliver better photos and the results will yield a higher return on your investment. Our Future Proof Team have many years of experience under their belts, across thousands of shoots.
Studio Equipment, props, styling and models.
Having a large selection of props, etc to complement your shoot will also affect the price. We can offer you a complete in house package, with our huge selection of props, backgrounds, and in house models available. We also regularly work with external models, and hair and make up artists. After the shoot we can offer retouching and infographics as extra services.
Number of Final Edits and Deliverables
The number of photos needed for your product line will also affect the cost of product photography. See our other blog post A Simple Guide to Setups for more information on how to plan your shoot and what constitutes a setup.
Image Licensing and Usage
Different photographers will offer different licensing options for the use of your images. If you plan to use the photographs for commercial purposes or reproduction, you'll likely need to pay more for extended licensing rights.
