Creating A Colourful Splash with Drop Bear Beer

Drop Bear Beer approached us earlier in the year to shoot their new releases of fruit-cut beers. As soon as we saw the brilliant branding, the excitement started bubbling! With fun colours and splashing motion, we were in for a treat.
Capturing Motion
Capturing the splash of a drink can be tricky at the best of times, liquid can be unpredictable and difficult to control. The use of a fast shutter speed is essential and the use of flash will freeze the motion. Additionally, angling the light to shine from behind through the liquid will help it glow and show off its shape.

Getting Outside
When it's a bright sunny day, we don't have to worry too much about light power. We can alter our shutter speed to capture the motion without the need to use flash. A natural setting can often yield the best results! A quick shake of the beer before popping the seal can create that sought after foam spray.

The Human Element
Our brief included a couple of cans held by someone wearing an official Drop Bear Beer T-shirt - and shooting this outside in a car park was all we could do without locations booked. However with the use of our in-house models and the power of AI, we've filled the background to look like a crowd at a pride parade. The involvement of people in product photography connects the product to a real-life situation. When consumers see the product being used by someone, it's easy for them to put themselves in that position and connect more deeply with the brand.
