Cookbook Photography in Bristol: Behind the Scenes at Our Photography Studio

We recently had the pleasure of working with MasterChef contestant Joy to create the food photography for her new cookbook, From Joys Table.

From the beginning, Joy wanted our input on styling and creative direction, helping shape a look that felt vibrant, warm and inviting. Using soft lighting, colourful backgrounds and a mix of textures, we created a consistent style across the shoot while giving each dish its own personality.


Working from our Bristol photography studio meant we could make use of our large collection of surfaces, backgrounds, plates and props. We kept the styling relaxed and homely, with full tables and natural details that made the food feel achievable and perfect for sharing.

Joy cooked each dish from scratch, while our food stylist fine-tuned the details on set. We focused on keeping things natural, with torn ingredients, loose drizzles and imperfect finishes that still looked beautiful on camera.


Our photographer then captured close-up and macro shots to highlight the colours and textures of each recipe.


Once the shoot was complete, we delivered the images in multiple crops and ratios, giving the cookbook designers plenty of flexibility when laying out the final pages.


It was a great project for our team, bringing together food photography, styling and creative direction to help bring Joy’s recipes to life.
