We recently had the pleasure of working with Pact Coffee, whose mission is to bring the taste of artisan coffee into people’s homes. With a wide range of products - from rich espresso roasts to smooth filter coffees - Pact offers something for every kind of coffee drinker, whether you prefer bean-to-cup or pour-over brewing.
Pact approached us looking for a fresh set of images for their website and social channels. They came to us with a strong vision, and it was our role to bring that vision to life through thoughtful lighting, texture, and styling. The goal was to create imagery that felt warm, inviting, and unmistakably homely.
Kitchen Set-Up
One of the most effective ways to distinguish a home coffee experience from a café setting is through the environment itself. Using a kitchen set-up immediately signals where the product belongs and how it fits naturally into everyday life.
Creating this in the studio meant keeping the styling simple was key.
A clean kitchen aesthetic allows the imagery to appeal to a wider audience while still maintaining Pact’s brand identity. We were able to achieve this in our Bristol studio with our full built in kitchen set up. The choice of props was equally important with thousands of choices in our catalog this was made easy. We carefully selected accessories and equipment that felt aspirational yet attainable - items that could naturally exist within the home rather than a commercial café environment.
This balance helps consumers imagine the experience for themselves and creates a stronger emotional connection with the product.
Light and Bright
For much of the shoot, we focused on creating a fresh, bright aesthetic that felt both classic and modern. By keeping the lighting soft and natural, with minimal distractions in the frame, the attention remained firmly on the coffee itself.
This style of lighting also helped highlight the rich colour and texture of the coffee - from the warmth of the crema to the subtle details within the beans and brewing process.
Bringing the Outside In
Lighting became one of the most important storytelling tools throughout the shoot. Using stronger directional light alongside gobos allowed us to shape shadows and recreate the feeling of natural daylight moving through a home.
By switching different cards and modifiers, we could quickly transform the mood of the scene - from soft early morning window light to the dim glow of evening shutters. These subtle changes helped create imagery that felt natural, lived-in, and authentic.
We weren’t simply creating beautiful product photography; we were building moments that consumers could imagine themselves stepping into.
A Contrast with Darker Tones
Alongside the lighter lifestyle imagery, we also introduced a series of darker, moodier shots focused on Pact’s signature espresso blend.
Taking inspiration from the warm brown tones within the packaging, we used richer backdrops and more dramatic lighting to create visual contrast across the campaign. These images feel noticeably different from the rest of the shoot, helping them stand out within the website layout and naturally draw the viewer’s attention.
This contrast in tone was created intentionally with the website experience in mind. The darker imagery helps stop the scroll and gives greater focus to the signature blend, almost acting as a spotlight on the product itself.
The final images create a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the character of the coffee. Meanwhile, the use of linens and textured fabrics adds a subtle sense of luxury - showing that even though the coffee is designed to be enjoyed at home, it can still deliver the elevated experience of a professionally made café coffee.
Overall
We were incredibly happy with the final results, successfully creating that warm, at-home feel within a studio environment. From the lighting and props to the set styling, our team collaborated closely with Pact Coffee throughout the entire process to ensure every image authentically captured the brand’s identity.
The final imagery balances comfort and quality - bringing together the approachable feel of home brewing with the elevated aesthetic of specialty coffee culture.
